This video was collectively planned, filmed and edited by local people. They choose to tackle the subject of youth migration, and revealed the multiple causes and impacts around this increasing phenomenon. Through many different voices in the community we find out how this is impacting the village; youth are not around, so they are not involved in the village's development activities; the elderly often find themselves alone and without family to support them; there is a lack of labour at key moments in the farming cycle... The film highlights the difficult choices facing the youth and families in the village, the risks that accompany these youth as they leave the villages and the worries their families live with day to day.
This is one of the outcomes of a capacity building training by InsightShare to enable LWF staff and local community members to use participatory video as an ongoing tool for community development in the Ayeyarwady Delta, Myanmar.
