We work to alleviate suffering and combat injustice and poverty.

Together with local & international partners, we aim to lay the foundation for a life in dignity for all.

Drawing on a firm commitment to uphold the rights of the poor and oppressed, we focus on the people in poverty whose voices are ignored.

Programmatic Area: Livelihoods

LWF Myanmar aims to empower and make people and communities more resilient and economically self-reliant through increasing and protecting assets, building capacities, and promoting productive activities to sustain their basic needs and diversify their income. We also work with both rights-holders and duty-bearers to ensure that the institutional environment enables resilient and sustainable livelihoods.

Programmatic Area: Quality Services
We believe that equitable access to quality services, such as education, water, energy, and health care, is a right that must be claimed by women and men, girls and boys to enjoy a better quality of life, to claim and access their human rights and to fulfill their full potential. The provision of such services is fundamentally the duty of local and national authorities. When service provision breaks down or is unavailable, particularly in times of acute crisis, World Service will step in to provide life-saving, humanitarian assistance to people affected by displacement, where we can best add value.
Programmatic Area: Protection and Social Cohesion
Our protection and social cohesion goal is to enable individuals and communities to live safe, dignified, and empowered lives, free from all forms of discrimination, abuse, and exploitation. In all contexts and programs, the ultimate goal is achieved when people’s rights are fulfilled and protected, and when both individuals and communities are able to thrive.

Systems and Practices For Quality Programming

We respond quickly and compassionately to natural and human-made disasters. Our emergency assistance provides practical support and involves vulnerable communities in meeting their basic needs. Focal Point
Human Rights

LWF Myanmar wants to ensure that all members of a community are aware of their rights and responsibilities. We work from the bottom up by helping villages identify projects that can act as starting points for empowerment and awareness-raising throughout the community. We partner with like-minded organizations through national networks to advocate for pro-poor and rights-based policy change.
