Rights to Land and Rights to Legal Identity Training Conducted in Pyapon

The LWF Myanmar organized training for Rights to Land and Rights to Legal Identity Activities at Pyapon on January 21- 23, 2017 throught Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Project activities. LWF Community Empowerment Facilitators and Empowerment Officers were attended the training and it was facilitated by Ye Htun Naung - Human Rights Coordinator, LWF Myanmar and U Aye Kyu - Consultant, Freeway Land Consultation Group. Moreover, U Aung Myat Khaing, Pyapon Head of Department of Land Management and Statistic also joined the training and shared the information on Land Law/Registration process. He expressed welcome message for having closed collaboration with LWF Myanmar for assisting farmers.

In 2017, LWF Myanmar committed to strengthen on Rights to Land and Rights to Legal Identity through UPR project in the areas of Pyapon, Dedeye, Twan Tay and Bogalay townships in Delta area and Hlaing Bwe, Hpapon and Kyar Inn Seik Gyi townships in Kayin state, Myanmar.

The training is designed for all Empowerment Facilitators to disseminate the knowledge about Land and Birth Registration process through Village Development Committees, Women Groups, and Youth Groups in the project villages. Regarding with the process of both Registrations, LWF Myanmar staff is encouraged to assist farmers and parents in collaborating with the respective government departments for improving accessing their rights and empowering to the communities.

As for the further implementation in Myanmar, LWF had planned to organize such trainings in Kayin State.
