LWF Myanmar Participated at Nay Pyi Taw IDDR Event

The commemoration of International Day for Disaster Reduction held in Naypyidaw on October 13 and opened by the chair of National Natural Disaster Management Committee (NNDMC), Vice- President U Henery Van Thio. Vice president expressed his delightful on the 8th commemoration of the National level event.

"Home Safe Home" is the slogan for this 2017 following a year in 24.2 million new displacement by disasters. This year's International Day aims to showcase innovative ways of reducing the numbers of people affected by disasters through injury, ill-health, loss of the family home or loss of livelihood. There were over 24 million new displacements triggered by disasters in 2016.

Lutheran World Federation (LWF) participated with one booth show and shared its activities through photos, vinyl and other visible documents such as country strategy, annual report, DRR related documents. LWF shared its folder package hand in hand to the vice president, as well as ministers and others high level government counterparts. U Soe Aung (Vice Minister) and U Ko Ko Naing (Director General) from RRD gave attention to LWF work by talking to LWF staffs, asking project work and taking photos with LWF’s staff and booth, which increase the relationship.
